Artist Statement

“The everyday in nature, its comfort of constancy and delight of discovery, its accidents of weather and erosion, patterns of growth and decay side by side, is the foundation of my work. The juxtaposition of animate and once animate suggest historical events, tells stories of influence and consanguinity. My mixed media, abstract works on paper contrast familiar shapes with abstract mark making, combine collage, drawing and printmaking and resists the restriction of the rectangle. Employing direct drawing and printmaking methods with indirect collage of repeated elements, each piece is both unique and related.”
